At the facility in Frankenblick/Rauenstein FCT Systeme GmbH started the manufacturing of a new kind of Spark Plasma Sintering system (SPS) for the production of large-sized components made of nano-structured ceramics and composite materials. The new system with 400 tons pressing force shall be mainly applied for R&D use for developing components for the electronic as well as for the aerospace industry. The system has a maximum capacity of 1200 kW and deals with component diameters up to 500 mm. So it is the largest system world-wide which can sinter large-sized components with finest-grained microstructure in nanosized range via FAST/SPS-Hybrid-technology. For FCT Systeme GmbH this is the consequent further development of a technology with which we act on the market more than 10 years very successful. In our own opinion FCT Systeme GmbH is one of only two companies world-wide that are able at all to produce FAST/SPS systems for the industrial standard production of large-sized components made of finest-structured materials. Since 2005 FCT Systeme GmbH has delivered more than 80 FAST/SPS-systems to customers all over the world. The sintering in the FAST/SPS-process, which can be compared with the hot pressing process, happens via pulsed direct current directly through the inner of the sinter. Thus extremely quick and smooth sintering results are possible. Additionally this system will be equipped with a hybrid heating system (inductive) in order to meet especially the high demands to temperature homogeneity of these large components. FCT Systeme GmbH gets involved with this project as we are committed to the technological and economical capability of this process and as we give high priority to this process for securing our own technological advance.
