PMAI 2012 in Mumbai

02.02.2012 - 04.02.2012

International conference & exhibition on new vistas in particulate materials technology & 38th annual technical meeting of PMAI in Mumbai - India from 2nd to 4th February 2012

About PMAI

The Powder Metallurgy Association of India (PMAI) was founded in 1973 by like-minded scientists, academicians and industrialists as a not-for-profit professional society. It’s main objective is to provide an ideal platform for exchange of ideas and knowledge and for fruitful interaction between various members. Towards this objective, PMAI brings out periodical Newsletters, annual transactions and conducts seminars and annual technical meetings. The annual short course, aimed at spreading the science and technology of PM has so far trained a number plant personnel. Some of the alumnus of this course had started their own PM plants and are very successful.

PMAI pays homage to Late Prof. G. S. Tendolkar and Late Dr. R.V. Tamhankar the founding fathers of PM (in India) as well as PMAI. It is due to their to untiring efforts we today have PM activities at IIT Bombay, BARC, DMRL, MIDHANI etc. The association has very rapidly grown from 1988 on wards thanks to the excellent support given by Late Shri P.R. Roy, Late Dr. R. Vijayaraghavan, Shri B.M. Kataria, Shri V.K. Sud, Dr. Sanjay Basu, Prof. P. Ramakrishnan and Dr. Ashok Mohan. There are more powder producers and part manufacturers operating to day in all the important areas such as sintered metallics, hardmetals, diamond tools and ferrite magnets. The number of R&D groups have increased substantially from the original three such as BARC, DMRL and IIT Bombay. Further, India now has very good equipment manufacturers for powder handling, compaction and sintering leading to a potential environment for the growth of Powder Metallurgy in India.
